The shampoo, sold in distinct green one-liter bottles, has been distributed mainly in New York and California, with the possibility of a wider reach. While no illnesses have been linked to the product yet, the company urges consumers to stop use immediately and return any affected bottles for a refund.
This bacterium is typically harmless within the intestines but becomes dangerous if it spreads to the bloodstream or other areas, potentially causing pneumonia or other serious infections. Individuals with weakened immune systems face the highest risk.
